Had the same announcement come my once when trying to bid on a $500 vase. Just to say i didnt end up buying it and the seller is now on my list of DONT BUY FROM.
I didnt even bother trying to contact seller to get me off his/her block list.
Didnt want to take my money so spent it elsewhere, probably one of their competitors.

bsal6160 why would you do that? It's not personal against you, it's to protect sellers from buyers who want to auction bomb them and is a quite reasonable block.

Why you ask...well obviously the seller doesnt want my business so I am only to happy to oblige them by spending my money elsewhere and also, to much hassle for a buyer to have to contact a seller just to make a bid. If a seller has this type of block setup then they are not too keen on getting new business. Most of the items I buy are not your cheap, junk $5.00 ones but rather antiques worth 100's$ and once in a while 1,000s$. So for me to have to contact a seller before bidding so i can spend my money.....forget it, i will go elsewhere.

Fair enough, I only asked because you seem to be taking this personally as a slight against you instead of understanding the process. You're of course free to spend your money where you choose ๐

My block is: Are currently winning or have bought 10 of my items in the last 10 days and have a feedback score of 5 or lower
However, I set this up on eBay's advice because on 2 occassions someone created a new ID and bought EVERYTHING I had listed. Needless to say they never paid. eBay were kind enough to reimburse me the fees, but after the second time I had to put blocks in place.
After purchasing 10 items from me hopefully the genuine buyer will be so impressed with my items and service that they will be prepared to come back after 10 days

Thank you, I had never seen this before and it caused me to miss out on the item because I got the message after confirm bid.
I understand the reasoning but I have a large feedback myself so was a bit surprised by it.

It might be worth sending a message to the seller as they might not realise that they have it set-up that way. It might also have been a glitch.

This is one of the blocks I am progressively removing - not even sure why I wanted it there in the first place.
Yes, there is the possibility that someone wanting to cause a problem might buy 5 or 10 items off me - but there is also the possibility that someone might want to actually buy stuff as well.
And if someone IS hell bent on malicious buying all they need is a few different ID's anyway.
I'd rather risk the problems of mischievous buyers (that can generally be sorted out - usually they don't pay anyway so that is easy) than risk losing very good repeat business which may be lost forever under the blocks.
