How you can say it it a size 8 when you send a 10, seller justifying that is a small 10

I clearly bought a size 8 dress, but, surprise, when I receive it the tag says is a size 10.

When I ask the seller an exchange, because she sent the wrong size, she answered quite arrongantly that is not a mistake. She just has this one dress and she advertised it as an 8 because she considered that is very small for a 10.

I have been wearing this size for a long time and I don't think it is small, in fact, it is huge on me.

The seller doesn't offer any solution, she just accept returns at my own postage costs but I ask why do I have to pay for a return when I obviously didn't get what was advertised?

Unfortunately if you open a paypal dispute you will be requuired to send the item back by trackable means at your own expense.

While this does not seem fair, it is policy.

Good sellers would pay the return in a case like this, (I most certainly would have if it was my error) but if the seller refuses there is little you can do.

I would leave a negative for this seller, something simple - Incorrectly described, would not cover return postage)  and then maybe list myself to get my costs back.

If you do list it yourself, include the measurements too, to help the next buyer.

Even within the same designer's clothing, sizes can vary depending on their style.

If you knew the designer, I can understand your frustration. I also agree that the size label should be the given size in a listing, not the seller's opinion.

If I am unsure, and there are no measurements, I ask the seller or move on.

Hi - Could you give us the Item Number?  It's just that as a Seller I know - and I'm sure you do too that all size 8 clothing are not the same.

If you have continually worn a Size 8 in one Clothing Brand then fair enough but a Size 8 in one Brand could be a Siz e 6 or 10 in another, a Size 10 could be an 8 or a 12 and so on... you get my drift. And don't get me started on the Sizes S M L  - they range from size 6 to 26 depending on the Brand.

I always put the measurements in my listings and the size according to the Australian Standards. But I also put in the Tag Size with the rider 'Please see Measurements' Did your Seller list the Measurements of the garment?

I understand how disappointing it is to receive a garment which is too big or too small and, if buying a garment with a Brand you are not familiar with, it is advisable to ask for the Measurements - even though all good sellers should put them in the listing.

Take the advice given above  from the other experienced Board Members and press the back button on listings with no measurements.

Too slow again - What Amber said - but more succintly!!

While you have a valid point tiger, the article was listed size 8 with a tag size 10.

IMO - defintely a listing error, and any ethical seller would should cover cost to return

If the buyer wants a size 8 and the item is a size 10 then it doesn't matter what anyone thinks about clothes sizings.

I don't pay for a sellers opinion of what size an item might be, I pay for particular brands in particular sizes so the OP has been dudded and they have to wear the cost of returning the item.

I find too often sellers saying an item is a size 22 but will stretch to a size 26, well who wants to wear anything that is stretched to the absolute limit of the fabric? Sooner of later (most likely sooner) the spandex or lycra will fail and the item ruined. Anyway that is going off topic.
