How can I buy the item ? The seller keeps telling me only UK can bid on the item. My mate is 83 old he cant use a computer so what can I do. HELP.

You have to add your mate's address in PayPal. Select 'Profile' then 'add or edit street address'. When that window opens there will be a box with 'add address'. After clicking on that you will have the option to 'add a gift address' and 'save' it.
Ask the seller to add you to their 'bidder block exemption list' and explain that the 'send to' address will be changed in PayPal to the UK address. When you have to pay for the item there's a little 'change address' button under your address - simply click on that and change it to your mate's address.
Or you can change your own address to your mate's address just for this transaction then change it back again afterwards. Might be simpler to do it this way.

NO it is absolutely no good adding the address in Paypal, if the seller has Australian bidders blocked nothing done in Paypal will alter that.
what you need to do is go into your ebay account, go to addresses and then under delivery addresses add the UK address and then select it as the primary. You will then be able to bid and that is the address that should show up in checkout, Once you have paid don't forget to go back and change your primary delivery address to your Australian one, you can leave the UK address there in case you want to use it again.

I have had that probelm before but commnuicate with the seller and state that you will be happy to pay shipping.
They can revise the item even whilst the auction is still on depending on the number of days / hours left.
It does help if you have good feedback from different people from different countries.
I have had that problem with people in the states, france and UK. Communication is key.
Try it
