I purchased a digital camera on eBay 3 days ago and its price seemed pretty good (around AUD $650) and it was about 30% of the average market price for this camera in brand new condition. It was advertised by a local seller located in Vic, so I did pay attention to the seller's rating which only had 4 positive feedbacks, but I thought it could just be because the seller did not have much activities on eBay before, and everyone would have their first time. It was a 'Buy it now' deal and I did pay it by using credit card through PayPal.
However I received an email from eBay the following day saying the listing that I was following is now removed due to some reasons. I then tried to view my order details for this camera under 'My eBay' purchase history, this order is no longer publicly accessible. The seller's account now becomes 'unregistered' in eBay (I am pretty sure it was 'registered' before), so I can't even contact the seller through eBay any more. I then tried to contact the seller via PalPal because it seems to have the seller's email address, but there has been no reply so far. He probably does not even check that email account. I now opened a dispute in PayPal and system does not allow me to escalate this issue to claim yet, but I think I will do that as soon as it allows.
I am not sure what will happen when the dispute is escalated to claim. Will I get my money back?
thanks

PayPal said they closed this case in my favor and would refund my money within a couple of weeks. Thanks again for all of you. I'd say this is a lesson to learn, in a hard way...

If you win a paypal case for non arrival you are usually refunded as soon as the case is decided in your favour. It does not take weeks, or even days.
Are you sure the email is not a fake?

It took my friend 21 days to get his refund for the exact same thing.,,,,which is what PayPal told him when he first contacted them.

This has been through the washer 1,000s of times regarding Ebay knowingly letting people sell counterfiet goods.
Their only concern is that they get their fees.

Are you saying that it took paypal 21 days to refund AFTER they decided in your friend's favour or 21 days from the time it was escalated to a claim?
I read the OP as the refund taking days/weeks after the case was decided in his favour. It does not take days after paypal decides....it is refunded immediately and the only wait may be if the payment was funded by a credit/debit card and there is a few days delay while the payment goes back to that funding source.

I don't know if it was 21 days from when he escalated the claim or when PayPal decided in his favour. I just remember getting an email from him saying that he would have his money back in 21 days.......and it turned up on day 21 into his PayPal account (he's also a seller so has a PayPal account). I thought it was a bit rough taking that long given the seller was NARU'd by eBay within 2 days of him paying.

It makes no difference whether the seller has been thrown off ebay or not....paypal has to abide by their own policies and give the seller time to answer the dispute.
After all, paypal is not exclusively used by ebay members. There are a lot of other sellers who accept it so the policies have to cover all paypal members.
I thought it was just 10 days that paypal allowed for the seller to respond to a dispute, but maybe it is longer. But every time a dispute has been found in my favour the money has been back in my Visa debit account 3 days after pp have notified me that I will be getting the refund.
By looking at the transaction in my pp account I could see that the refund was issued and took 3 days to land in my debit card account.
