International Mail Fraud

Ebay is an accomplice in International Mail Fraud and does nothing to stop it.

Paid for an item from lucyline1945 on 7 June 2021 never received.  Sent numerous messages no reply.

Contacted Ebay accepted the sellers statement that they had sent a replacement and closed the case.

Still nothing received and now Ebay won't do anything.

This makes Ebay an accomplice in International Mail Fraud.

Naturally you informed eBay of this and made them aware you will be reporting them to the appropriate authorities?

You may have time to open a case in PayPal, who give you 6 months

But you need to do it now

Too late, as you are aware of the time limits for eBay to do anything now

Out of interest, when did you open the original item not received dispute?

It is the LAST day for PayPal. If you don't open a case today, you won't be able to open a case, and actually, I am not sure you can even open a case today. If it is exactly 180 days rather than 6 months, it might be too late because some months have 31 days.

You have 30 days from last estimated delivery date to open a case.

What's the point in communicating with the seller when you had the tools to settle the dispute at your fingertips? Had you opened a case for Not Received in a timely manner, the onus would then move to the seller to provide tracking. If they couldn't do so, the case would have closed in your favour.

You have 180 days in Paypal to open a dispute - I think today is literally the last day you can do so if you bought in on the 7th June.

Ebay won't do anything if they're not made aware of a problem through a dispute process opened within the time frame.

Maybe it will depend what the estimated delivery date was?

Not sure on that to be honest, I have never opened a dispute with PayPal

I think with PayPal it is 180 days from the date of purchase...

  • Open a dispute in the Resolution Centre within 180 days of the date you sent the payment, then follow our online dispute resolution process.

From https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#Schedule_1_PayPal_Seller_and_Buyer_Prote...

It looks like the OP just missed out. They might still want to give it a go, maybe explain they thought it was 6 months, but they must be quick, although there might not even be a link to open a dispute any more, so they should contact PP directly if they want to give it a go.

I'm still amazed that people wait for so long to get a resolution when everything they need to do is literally in black and white and outlined in the guidelines. How is it possible that so many people who come to these forums have obviously never even read the basics? Or why even wait so long between June and now without at least finding the buyer information section to update one's knowledge or understanding what to do in the event of a problem?

OP, for future reference, please read the help section for buyers, especially what to in the event of an issue. Hopefully you can open a case in PP. Otherwise if you funded via credit card, you may be able to contact them.

Again, Ebay are not complicit in anything. It's up to YOU as the buyer to be proactive about your purchases. Emailing a seller who is not responding should  have been a massive red flag and most of us here would have known that there is often no good outcome when there is no seller response. It's up to YOU to open a dispute in the time frame - this is what makes Ebay aware that there is a problem. There is a reason there are time limits. If nothing happens after 30 days from the last date of delivery, Ebay concludes that there are no issues and "archives" the transaction.

It's no different to a transaction on Amazon - you have a 30 day window and then you're out of luck.
