I am a business owner that buys several items from ebay on a weekly basis.
Most of these items are bought from Chinese sellers that ship from within Australia.
I'm not sure if they are GST registered or not.
Is GST included on these sales? If not, how to find out?
sellers do not respond when i ask this question.

Australian sellers are only obliged to be registered for GST if their income is above 75K (from memory).
If there was GST, it would be on your invoice.
You can see where a seller is actually registered by looking on their feedback page.
Many sellers say the items are located within Australia, but this is often not the case.

Just to add - of all your feedback received as a buyer, almost all of the sellers were based in China, one in Singapore and only one in Australia.
If you're buying from an overseas seller, Ebay now collects GST upfront automatically if the sale is under $1000 in value. It will be on your invoice.

Unfortunately none of my purchases have GST invoices.
Many of these sellers, are supposedly local Australian sellers, and doing some math according to their feedback history, they are well over the $75,000 per year in sales.
So why isn't the GST breakdown showing on eBay?
There is no "receipt" or "invoice" option either, just an order payment page without GST reference.
I'm sure eBay has an answer to this?

If they are genuine Aus based sellers, then they either haven't registered for GST, or they are simply not reaching the threshold.
I did find this on the ATO website about when a business would need to register:
- when your business or enterprise has a GST turnover (gross income from all businesses minus GST) of $75,000 or more.
If they are not registered, all you can get is an ordinary receipt and the item is tax deductible but not GST claimable.

If you are buying from foreign-registered sellers, regardless of the location of their products, GST will be levied by eBay at the time of purchase. If they are foreign-registered they have no legal obligation to register for Australian GST, regardless of the location of their products.
I have no idea what your invoice/payment record shows, as I don't buy from foreign sellers, but, as said, you can claim a tax deduction, not GST credits.
Edit: I believe you can register your ABN with eBay and you will not be charged GST. No idea how it works. Maybe wait for d*g (who seems to be MIA) to reappear.

This is so frustrating. We have to show Gst on sales why do people selling on EBAY not have to do the same. If not registered or don't need to be then just say NOT Reg for GST. Or if selling in Aust again make it clear Yes or No. Surely the ATO should make a clear ruling for EBAY to abide by.
