It is standard practice now (quad bike sellers an example) of sellers bidding their own items up. They don't care if they win the item as it is all direct deposit and they relist the item without challenge. Buy it Now sales are generally from retail outlets at full or higher retail prices... Ebay will make believe that they care but take no action. Maybe it is time for an alternative to Ebay so that the shonky dealers with rubbish product can be excluded.

You can report items if you suspect shilling and ebay do sanction accounts where they find obvious shill bids being placed.

I have reported many and ebay have either suspended or closed accounts.

Some situations may take longer until enough evidence is gathered for ebay to action appropriately.

Unfortunately it's been like this in recent years. I collect videogames. Over 5 years ago ebay was a very nice place to buy and sell but nowadays it is flooded with scaplers and resellers. Many items are sold with BIN prices much higher than the original retail price after a partiuclar item is sold out on preorders. Shill bidding is very common nowadays.
