'Join our Mailing List' texts, spam or legit?

I have received a text from eBay to Join our Mailing List and get a $10 voucher. The problem is though, in this day and age, I don't trust any links in unsolicited texts and it's not as easy to hover and check a text link as it is an emailed link.

Question: Is it legit or a scam?

Comment: I'm not opposed to joining lists and getting vouchers but I'd prefer these offers came through the ebay message inbox.

Scam.

If it were from eBay, you would see the message in your eBay inbox.

I have occasionally received such emails from sellers from whom I had bought something. They seemed to have my email address and sent the request from their website rather than eBay.

Apparently it is possible to find the email address of a buyer who has actually bought from you, but only if the buyer has bought from you.

As a seller, I get to see the phone number of anyone who buys from me
