Checking through my ebay history to leave feedback etc and somehow the sharpening stone I purchased and received no problem is now showing up as a pet cage...**bleep**? How is that even possible? It doesn't worry me too much about this particular purchase but I see potential for epic levels of scamming if sellers can straight up change a listing after a purchase has been made. Also if I had purchased something that I would expect warranty on getting proof of purchase on say a TV when a month after purchase the listing is changed to a pet cage or a packet of paperclips might be a little difficult.

Older versions of a listing are retained by eBay for exactly this kind of reason.
There will be a link to view a version of the original listing, as it was when someone purchased it, including images - if a seller makes changes to a listing after someone buys, this appears at the top:

I suppose it can happen if someone one listing with 10 widgets with a BIN price. Once those widgets are sold, the seller might just change the pic and the information to a diffferent item altogether, rather than pay a new listing fee.
