Long wait for delivery

How long would it take for a parcel from Hamburg Germany take to get here. The parcel was posted on 8th October and tracking says it reached Australia on the 18th October. I have asked seller and he said that they shipped out 2 parcels that day. One to the UK and one here. My tracking number at first said it ended up in UK then was told by seller that last 2 digits on my track number was incorrect so checked and it said 18th October. Its thru Deutsche post. I know that parcels occassionally go missing but its taking a while to get here. Seller has offered refund if I like. And no its not food its a wallet and it was the last one also. Just my luck.

Why should the seller refund?

From the information you supplied :-

* The tracking is clearly showing that he has done the right thing and posted item.

* The tracking shows it has arrived in Australia.

* The item is now out of the sellers control.

Given your past history your details have quite possibly been flagged by customs & the item is most likely still in customs awaiting clearance.

I have known items to sit in customs for up to 3 weeks at times before clearance. When it does clear customs given the current state of Aus Post it could take them a few weeks to deliver it.

Just be patient. You know it is on its way by the tracking.

Maybe give it a bit more time....

Parcels can also sit in Aust Post's sorting centres (or bounced from one to another and back again) without the tracking being updated.

I have found DHL very helpful when a parcel went missing in Oz.  AP wouldn't talk to me about it 'because the item wasn't mine yet as I hadn't taken posession'. (No kidding - the reason that hadn't happened was AP's fault).  The seller whom AP would talk to did not want to bother with it, but thank goodness she sent the item through DHL and they did investigate on my behalf.  Don't know what they did or said to AP but my item was mysteriously found and forwarded on to me.

Mind you, AP didn't bother to update the tracking of course.

Long wait for delivery

It is not unusual for mail from Europe to take 20-22 working days (4-5 weeks).

So you may see it around middle of next week, 8th Nov.

Deutsche Post is handled by DHL.....try and track it on the DHL site and see what happens.

Because it's Michelle.

Wallets, pet food..... is there nothing in Australia that you can buy?

What dates does ebay suggest as ETA?

How about giving it till then plus a couple of extra weeks grace. If it doesn't turn up by then, you can start to ask questions or worry.

If you buy from Germany or overseas yes, it will take a while to get here.

Why don't you start to browse Catch of the Day & a few sites like that, as well as ebay? I think you'd love it, it has lots of things like bags and wallets come on special from time to time-imported brands as well, it's all in Australia & all arrives fast.

Long wait for delivery

Germany to Australia is usually pretty quick - I don't think I've ever waited more than a couple of weeks (I have friends in Germany who have regularly posted me things over the years).

This is almost certainly an Australian Customs issue, compounded by Impatient Buyer issue.

Sometimes you just don't find what you are looking for in Oz.  That was my situation years ago when I was looking for a new wallet.

I wanted it to be wide enough to take banknotes without folding them,  have two separate zippered compartments, not much in the way of credit card space and a few other requirements including ideally it would be made of leather in black with a red interior.  I found exactly what I was looking for from an eBay seller in England.

It didn't cost much but years later it is still going strong with no tears or dodgy zippers or press studs.  At the time I was so pleased with it, that knowing how fashions can change, later I also bought one in a different colour for when the first one wore out.  I don't think I'll need the 'back up' wallet for another 10 years at least. ๐Ÿ˜‰
