In the effort to educate some buyers of ebay, I am going to give a little advice.
Scenario 1:
buyer - my item has not yet arrived, not impressed!
Seller - please allow up to 10 - 12 business days for Aus Post regular, as delivery can very depending on location and service requested.
"pause scenario 1" - As a Seller I do understand the frustration that can be caused when your item is late, the frustration is shared on both ends!. However it is only ever the one side that is blamed (the pathetic Seller).
Truth - if you wish to recieve your item prompt' please use express post or equivelent if the seller has this option. And please STOP blaming the Seller for issues with postage. The 'Pathetic' Seller will do all that is possible to resolve any issue.
Scenario 2:
Seller - You have not paid for your item yet (as there may be another buyer requesting the item, I do need to complete the transaction promptly. If you have changed your mind, found a cheaper item, or are spamming, please let me know).
Buyer - "no responce"
Scenario 3:
Seller - You have not paid for your item yet, not happy!.
Buyer.................................. "Now if you were the buyer would you be impressed?".....................
'Nope'
As a Seller we do everything possible for our customers, please understand that most of us are not simply here for the money and we are also human 😉 .
Communication is a 2 way Street, thanks for listening.

I've got a newby type question about contacting a seller these days.
After a purchase, delivery & feedback, what is the right way to contact the seller without giving them a defect?
Before payment there is Other, which i know is safe but after the sale there is-
-Question about my item & how to use it
-I didn't receive my item
-Need to return my item
-Item isn't as described
-Need to cancel purchase
Is the 1st option safe?Other is not an option now & i want to be sure before i msg the seller to thank them for the upgraded advanced plant they sent me in instead of the smaller one in the listing.
Yes,I've been a seller but not since the MBG defect on contact changes.

Option 1 is safe and won't give them a defect.

Thanks, was just making sure.I have read threads a month or so ago about buyers clicking the wrong option & accidentally giving a defect.
I didn't expect the plant upgrade but there was a note with the plant about it.
I paid Monday & it was here from QLD today, looking as fresh as if it just came from the nursery.

You could always contact them through a current listing or by way of their feedback page.

I tried the feedback page & it gave my those same options i said before.
So it let me easily contact before payment but not after.
I won the auction on Saturday so msg the seller that i would pay on Monday morning,no probs.I tried sending a msg from that 1 & can't do that either.
OP made a point about contacting the seller & i agree but eBay kinda don't let you unless you risk opening a dispute.

You can contact the seller via ask a question link in the listing and the 'other' option is still there. I did that just recently to let a seller know that a delayed shipment had finally arrived.

Contact the seller using their PayPal email address. I am now doing this all the time for post sales contact.

The seller put his email addy in the note with the plant to ask any questions but i haven't been able to send an email from any account since it got hacked late last year.Dunno why, something about not matching the old PW but it's in the too hard basket.
I used the "ask a question about using my item..." ,just wanted to be sure it wasn't a defect trap before i did.
I would have felt like an ungrateful pig of a buyer if i hadn't.

I'm pretty sure that asking a question about using the item doesn't trigger a defect. I always used the ask a question link in the listing, but it seems that has now changed to the same options as contact seller from the purchase history.
