Not sure of this...

Hi,

I bought an item here in Australia, I received that item and I am happy with it, but inside the parcel were Christian pamphlets....I am a little put out by this.

But I just wanted to know if this is against EBay policy?

I have received advertising for the sellers eBay seller page etc, but this is a first for me.

If anyone believes it's okay to send unsolicited religious drivel to their buyers then imagine sending anti religious notes to them and including similar rants in your auctions. You are likely to be reported and maybe sanctioned. I know that ebay protect religious nuts.

Just interested, but what's your definition of "Religious nuts"?

Atheists aren't offended, in fact it's incredibly hard to offend an Atheist. We take pity on you you have one life here, one chance on this planet, one go around and you decide to live it based on a rule book with more plot holes, fallacies and back-flipping hypocrisy than a Garth Merenghi book.

Please point me in the direction of a war that has been waged by Atheists over their chosen sky-daddy

LOL Christians have killed more people on this earth than any other group, FACT

Quick, press the report button because you failed to understand any of this. Go Go Go!

I love the way one can claim that they are tolerant whilst displaying intolerance! To claim they would not silence people whilst attempting to silence them. Claim they are not ignorant whilst displaying ignorance! To make sweeping statements to show they are knowlegeabe that are incorrect! The best one of all is to claim that their rights are being curtailed because they must listen???

I do not have an interest in this subject other than that i am an Australian. I support the right of every Australian to ahare and discuss their views. Any person who claims their rights are being damaged because they must listen to the free speech of others should be ashamed of themselves!

Wow thank you for all the replies.

I gave the seller positive feedback, because I was happy with what I bought. I came on here to ask if it was against ebays policy. I have spoken to the seller, though he never replied that I didn't like being sent this.

No I am not an atheist as such. But I don't like people shoving religious pamphlets at me. If I received them in my letterbox I throw them away, it's always expected In the letterbox at one time or another. I don't even like political pamphlets being shoved in my face at voting time.

If I want it I'll go look for myself. I just though eBay wasn't the time or place for this sort of thing.

Thanks though for the different opinions, and I'm sorry it got a little heated. I'm not complaining, and the pamphlets are in the bin. I told the newbie seller I thought it was against Ebays policy, but then I couldn't find it, so came here to ask, just to make sure.

Oh well thanks again for your help.

I am glad you were happy with your item. Unfortunately nobody has actually managed to respond to your question as to whether it is against ebay's policy.

I think you have been fair to the seller, and were wise to tell them how you felt. No doubt they will be severely punished by some buyers for sending out unsolicited religious material so it is best to let them know before they are sent broke through a barrage of negative feedback and low dsrs.

They are the over the top fanatics who are obsessed with religion and call me harsh if you want to but I include people who force their beliefs on people verbally or with pamphlets in that category.

LOL patch !

The effects of Communism and oppression of people is one example, as an atheistic political ideology.  And there's something to be said for the Nazi ideology with it's 30 point program for the national Reich Church which basically prohibited any form of dissemination of the bible and any books of religious nature.

Thanks for the clarification Deja, I am assuming this would not include those who would state their beliefs in a discussion if relevant to the the conversation?  The point I'm making is, if a Christian, Muslim etc. plainly disagreed with something and politely explained this saying  "I believe this is wrong because x y and z"?  Would you see this as 'forcing' beliefs on someone?

Patchoo78 Again I will use the word ignorant. You are no student of history quite obviously. You are quoting dogma that people like to use to debase religion. So let me enlighten you.

Some wars that had nothing to do with Christianity that vastly outweigh those that did!

1. All war before the invention of Christianity! (enough said already)

2. All wars foght by the Greek city states. (ever seen 300)

3. All wars fought in Fuedel japan, Russia and Asia

4. Allwars fought throught Asia pacific pre 1500

5. All wars fought in North and South America pre 1500

6. All wars fought to form the Roman republic.

7. The first Punic War.

8. The second Punic War

9. The third Punic War

10. The American war of Independanve

11. The American Civil war.

12. The war of The Roses

13. The hundred years war

14. WW1

15. WW2

16. The Vietnam War

17. The Korean War

Sorry I missed a couple of hundred there.

Patchoo78 jet your "FACTS" right. Christians have despite what people like yourself like to ignorantly claim have killed less than 0.05% of people in war or otherwise than others FACT!
