Old scam, new approach

Just a warning that as just about everyone must have heard of the we are from Microsoft and your computer needs us to take it over etc. they have changed tack. Call I just received claimed that my internet was going to be closed off as I had downloaded some very bad problems but they could fix them if I switched on my computer and did as instructed!!!!!!

i had a call like that strung them along for about 20 minutes

ended when they called me a rude man and then hung up.

all I did is mimic his accent

this works really well with call centres

havent had a call offering me a deal for ages. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yay ..what fun to string em along. My standard responses are:

1 Wot computer ...........? I don't have one.

2. Yes you can come and clean my windows...if the quote is cheap.

3. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh...I am sorry.....I do not understand.....you will need to ask my husband...I just cook, clean and sometimes he will let me go shopping,if I have been a good wife.

I too have been known to ask them to hold on and put the phone down next to the phone and left it there for hours. This stops them from making calls from their end as the line is still "busy"...It's cruel I know, I am doing someone out of work I know...But...I don't care ...lol.. They never call me back...!

Hmmmm, peppers that used to be the case a long time ago, but with the modern exchange equipment, when a person hangs up and the other caller hasn't, after (I think) 10 mins or so the line will reset. - unless of course there is a fault in the exchange equipment (that couldn't happen could it?.................. ROFLOTF)

had a woman phone me to do a job at the drop of hat so gave her a really high quote, she called back 5 minutes later with this big story about daughter being ill and would have to cancel but she didn't hang up the phone properly and I could here talking to someone allready working there discussing all the jobs she asked me to do, the line was open for hours.

Had a call about my computer not working properly blah blah blah, I asked which passwords he would like and he said F--- YOU and hung up on me.

I have received 3 of these phone calls lately, all with asian sounding people talking which I am guessing means the call is coming from overseas.   I blow a loud whiste into their ear as soon as they start telling me their lies.

I hate scammers and the time they waste.  I wish we could trace where their phone calls come from and have the Police arrest them straight away.

The police are definitely on to this scam ... again ... and again ... and again. Even though I'm on the do-not-call register, they still get through. Once I had a guy strung along for a while begging him for help because I'd forgotten my username and password, and he had just informed me he had total access to my computer remotely (and I had the usual severe problems). Poor bugger!
