Afternoon all , Just would be interested in a few opinions on a radio i recently purchased , it was listed as new (other) , title and description stated NOS ( new old stock).
Now the the radio was shown in its original polystyrene foam packaging , 3 pictures all up , 2 showing it in the packaging and one close up of the radio.
Fantastic , Radio arrived as shown in the packaging , all good , very happy chappy ,
now move forward a week and a half , seller lists more of the same radio as buy it now, has 6 listed , no problem , i buy all six ,
when the 6 radios arrived , they had No packaging and they were just wrapped in plastic shopping bags with one layer of bubble wrap.
As these units are approx 30 years old and proving that an item of that age is in fact new old stock, I believe the packaging has a significant impact on the value .
What i suppose i am asking here is , do others think that, as they arrived with no packaging but loose and just wrapped in plastic shopping bags , do i have a reasonable expectation to be a bit more than disappointed here?
on a item of that age , the value does have a lot to do with the original packaging.
I tried to sort it out with the seller involved but he just kept side stepping the issue and wouldnt give a direct response.
I honestly think he threw out the original packaging and repacked them to make the parcel smaller for postage but he wont admit to any thing.

Oh hell no, I don't want it back.....that's why it ended up in court, because I refused to refund her and take it back!! It was basically buyers remorse dressed up as SNAD. It was actually her husband who made the initial demands for refund. She's got Bipolar and when she goes off her meds, she goes on spending sprees. Everything she'd bought in the past (like spas, new cars, furniture etc), he was happy to wear because he could use it. HE had no use for a food van, so demanded a refund on that basis.
She wanted it because she wanted to go around to shows and sell Brazilian food. Her ideas sounded great to be honest. HE wasn't happy about her ideas though. When she mentioned that she had seen this van on eBay he told her to go and LOOK at it, but don't buy it until she had got back and spoken to him about it.
That same night they had the discussion, she hit the BIN. She turned up 5 days later with her son in law and her husband had no idea. She had borrowed the money from a friend to pay for it, which her husband went ballistic about when he found out. Another reason why he was demanding a refund, because he didn't want to be in debt to her friend.
Nothing fell into the SNAD category. EBay told me to refund, I refused and that's when the legal action started.
Prior to the first email from their solicitor, my husband and her husband spoke on the phone, when I was at work. Her husband had decided that WE (as in me) could relist the van on my account and whatever it sold for, we would go halves. They would keep it in Sydney so it could have more exposure. I absolutely red lined when I found out and said absolutely NOT. For a start, it was no longer mine to sell. Secondly, why should I have to pay a second lot of FVF's? They had already admitted to stripping the inside of it out to try and reduce the weight to get it registered. I had no idea what damage they had done to it in the process.
One thing they didn't count on was, I'm an email hoarder. I rarely delete emails, so had all the abusive messages she sent. They got her caught out a few times in court. I also believe they thought "they're just a pair of dumb country hicks and I'm a Sicilian debt collector with ties to the Sicilian mafia....they wouldn't be stupid enough to say no to me". How wrong they were!!
The magistrate had a copy of my eBay ad and said it was one of the most comprehensive ads he's ever seen. Everything but everything was covered......including the fact it wasn't registered at the time. Even after he ruled, she was still jumping up and down with, but, but, but. He stood up and said "sit down....YOU LOST. Now, go home". He even pointed the finger at her when he said YOU LOST. I had to use all my strength not to pish myself laughing!!! The looks on their faces was priceless.
