Out bid but I was the only bidder?

I put in a bid on an item via my phone only to be immediately told i was outbid.  I was the first bidder.  so I put in a second bid and again I was immediately outbid.  I was the second bid.  Then later when i logged on through my computer I had a look and discovered that I was the highest bidder.  How can they be different depending on how you access ebay?  Is it a sneaky way to encourage people to increase their bids?  Not happy about feeling duped.

There is a lot of glitches with using a phone for ebay

If it is not too late you can retract the highest bid by http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?RetractBidShow

If there is more than 12 hours to go you vcan retract the bid if it is less than 12 hours then it can not be done unless the bid you want to retract was done within the hour

Contact the seller and advise them what has happened as well.
