A friend made a purchase for an item and has lodged a PayPal claim after it didn't arrive. The dispute states it must be escalated by a certain date and time or it will automatically close. If they do not respond or escalate by that date and the dispute closes, is that it? Cannot be reopened, appealed etc? Or is that it, case closed, seller wins?
they have gone away with no internet access and the date will probably pass before their return. Against my advice they didn't sort it before leaving. Just wondering what to tell them to do?

If the seller did not reply and the buyer does not escalate within the stipulated time then the dispute closes.
I am not sure if you can then open a dispute in paypal, although you can do a chargeback thrugh your bank if the paypal payment was funded by a credit or Visa debit card.
