PayPal dispute for item intermittently working/with issues. Any point?

If I bought an item which the listing says is in perfect working order, and upon initial testing it works fine then becomes erratic and unreliable a week later, is this enough grounds to put in a claim for significantly not as described? If you buy a used item in working condition is there an expectation it should at least work properly for the period of the PayPal timeframe? Or does the fact the item worked properly upon receipt enough to rule out a claim? And does the age of the item come into it ie fair wear and tear etc?

Before anyone asks, yes I have used and connected the item in accordance with proper specs and I'm experienced using the item so can rule out operator error etc.

Seller has asked if I'm an electrician. I don't believe its relevant whether I am qualified or not, it still remains a fact the item does not currently work as it should.

If paid by PayPal, you have 45 days to open an Item Not as Described case and will be asked to return the item via trackable means at your cost to the address PayPal specify in order to get a refund of item plus initial postage cost.

Yes, if it is not working as described it is enough grounds to open a case within the 45 days.

To do so select resolve a problem to the right of item in your purchase list.

It's still within the time but only just. I really wondered whether it was a case of "it was working when received so case closed" or is a seller effectively giving you a 45 day warranty when you pay with PayPal?

I don't believe any seller would be agreeing to a 45 day warranty unless they stated that in the ad.

My own personal belief is if you buy something (small) second hand and it is working when you receive it then it would be a case of buyer beware, and if it broke down a little later you would not be entitled to a refund..

However, that might not be the way paypal sees it and you might win a case if you put in a claim.

Agree with springy, but especially with electronics, after they have been warmed up properly a fault may occur that would indicate the component was not quite right from manufacture.

And an item that has been shipped then used by the buyer maybe 1-2 weeks after purchase then breaks down within 2-3 weeks of normal use, I would deem as faulty and Not as Described.

I think that is one of the reasons PayPal has a short time of 45 days to claim.
