So how do they get away with it there is no proof of delivery items just get left at the door! not even a door knock I have found 3 items now on the front door mat when I go to leave the house
I caught a driver the other day and was told that pitney bowes do not require a signature they just leave the parcel
now as a seller I will loose any case if I dont provide proof of delivery to US buyers
seemd like double standards

eBay Australia require proof of postage - eBay USA require proof of delivery. It's not double standards, it's different regulations for different sites. If you purchase while logged in to ebay.com the seller has to send with proof of delivery. If you purchase while logged in to ebay.com.au the seller only requires proof of postage.
The deciding factor is which eBay site the buyer was using when the purchase was made. If a US buyer purchased on ebay.com.au then you as a seller need to only provide proof of postage but if they purchased on ebay.com then you need proof of delivery.
Before you ask, no I don't know how to tell which site the purchase was made on - there ought to be some easy way of finding out, but I don't think there is

In the US, proof of delivery doesn't require a signature unless the item was over a certain value ($250 for PayPal claims, $750 for eBay Buyer Protection claims). An online tracking status of 'delivered' is enough if it's valued under those amounts.
Same applies if you're an Aus seller in an eBay case, so no double standards.
