For the last 2 weeks I have been watching & bidding on xbox 360 250gb consoles with games. Please sellers, be reasonable with your buy now price & starting bids! I have finally bought from a retailer as I am getting a better deal & price! But obviously it is working for you because people are too lazy to bother looking online or elsewhere!

You would be amazed at the amount of buyers that would LOVE to just pop into the shops to buy what they need BUT as there is NO shops in remote areas the only have the variety by purchasing on line.
You chose to go to a shop and others choose to purchase on line so WHY does that make them lazy?

some buyers pay above retail for a variety of reasons. Some of these include living in isolated areas, the convenience of buying at any hour of the day and having it delivered, and many others.
If you can buy it cheaper at a retail outlet then buy it at a retail outlet. Sellers can list at any price they want, including above retail price. If they price it too high then they simply won't sell.
You can't expect eBay to always be cheaper than retail, those days are long gone!

The concept of EBay being cheaper is not, I believe, something that EBay sellers have perpetuated. My understanding is that it is something that ebay promoted.
Unfortunately smaller retailers cannot source products from manufacturers, importers and wholesalers at the same price as the larger retailers. At times wholesale pricing is above what the wholesaler is offering to the general public via clearance/deals sites.
A lot of effort goes into sourcing products, including assessing those that can be sold at a competitive price. Many of the large retailers sell products at below the normal wholesale price as they are given generous volume discounts by the wholesalers/manufacturers. As such, if a price appears over inflated online it is not necesarily because the seller has a huge profit margin.

As well as what has been stated above, many many many...moons ago in eBays conception it was very much a place for individuals, no stores etc. It was like an on line garage sale so there were many bargains. As leader said, those days are long gone, and IMO eBay is the better for it. The choice you now have is unbeleivable all available to anyone at anytime. And the bargains are still there, you just need to look. ๐

What the Op fails to realise is the benefits of buying on line.
Yes you could do it the old fashioned way and take the time and incur the cost (car running costs, parking costs etc) of going from shop to shop until you finally find what you want at the price you are prepared to pay.
Or you can simply go on line, where it may be a little more expensive, but you will not only find it in a fraction of the time, but also get someone else to do all the work to get it delivered to your door.
But if you choose the on line option, not only should you expect to pay for the product, but also all the costs associated with getting it to you. As an example when I was selling replacement selling china, to pack just one item with sufficient care that it arrived intact would take about 15 minutes, and it never ceased to surprise me how many people expect that they didnโt/shouldnโt have to pay for the time spent in providing that service.

Nobody is forced to bid or BIN, as a seller if I think I can get $?? for an item why would I offer it for sale for less regardless of what any other seller, on or off line, is selling it for?
If I want to buy something I check out the price at a variety of different places and then buy where i am going to get the best deal but if somebody would rather just shop in one place to same time and effort that is entirely up to them.
Of course some sellers set their prices too high, the result is they usually don't sell much, there are far more sellers who set their prices far too low, especially for second hand items so it is swings and roundabouts.

A lot of the big stores have websites and online shops and it is so easy to check out the offers and prices, you don't need to drive from shop to shop and you can have the item either sent to you or have it waiting at the store for you to collect.
No need for the old fashioned way anymore.
