I had to pay a seller for an item that they had cancelled but I did receive it (they refunded me). Well I eventually(it was months ago) sent them their money owed for the item that was on the 1st September. But the money still has not been cleared to them(It is sitting in limbo at present) It was via Paypal. I just emailed the seller about it and was wondering what the outcome might be. Should I wait a while as I still have an option to cancel. Money by the way has cleared from my bank account.

I'm confused. Have I got this right? The seller cancelled a sale & refunded your money, but then posted the item anyway-without any further payment having been made? So you paid them on 1st Sept but the payment is in limbo.
First off, did you know you were going to receive this item or did it arrive unexpectedly after the cancellation?
If it arrived unsolicited, without you renegotiating with the seller, then all you can do is what you have done. Message the seller again if you have no reply within the week. If the money stays unclaimed by the end of the month, I would cancel the payment.
I would not cancel the payment just yet if possible, give the seller time to reply. When does the option to cancel run out? If there is a set date and money has not been claimed by close to then, I would cancel.
If the seller contacts you after that time, you can either repay into their account or offer to return their item if they pay for return postage.

Have you double checked to make sure you put their email address in correctly? This is a common mistake and some people just can't see where they've typed it wrong. Copying and pasting works best, but make sure you haven't missed a letter at the start or the end when you do it.

I don't understand why the money is still in limbo?
Because if a seller doesn't claim the money after 30 days then PayPal will refund the money back to you.
What Sept are we talking about here last year or this month?
Because you said that you paid months ago, never the less you should have been refunded the money back after 30 days.

It'll be 1st Sept this year, so the 30 days is not up yet.
It sounds as if the actual transaction/cancellation must have been months ago though.
When did the item actually arrive?

is it just me, or do members buyers like michelle overcomplicate eBay?
I mean, I bid . . . . . I win . . . . . I pay . . . . . I wait (patiently) . . . . . I get my item . . . . . I leave feedback and I have no hassles, no stress , no dramas and no hissyfits anywhere along the line. See, no complications whatsoever.

You and me both. I have bought thousands of things on eBay and only 3 things didn't arrive. Those 3 were from China. I sent the seller a message saying it hadn't arrived and there was no hesitation in refunding me. One thing turned up about 3 months later so I repaid the seller.
I've never had anything that was SNAD. Like you, I buy, I pay, seller sends, I wait, I receive, I leave feedback and it's done and dusted.
