I realised that my address was incorrect in my eBay account as soon as I order the product so I messaged the supplier immediately. It took them ages to answer my request - only to say that they couldn't change the address once it's in..but to cancel the order and re-buy. I went to cancer the order and of course wouldn't let me.
I have no idea what to do as they are not answering my questions. @PayPal said that because the money has been paid to the supplier they can refund me - and of course I can't contact eBay...does anyone know how to contact eBay?
thank you for your help.

You can contact eBay through the "eBay Help" link at the top of the page.
But in reality it's between you and the seller, only the seller can cancel the item not you.
If you have a "My Post " account you can redirect the item once you have a tracking number for it.
"Start me up I'll never stop......"

Ebay won't assist you because you are the one responsible for maintaining correct address details.
What, exactly would you expect them to do?
Whilst the seller is the only one who can cancel an order, they do have the right not to do so. On top of which, if the seller does not send to the address on record, they can lose any dispute that is opened against them. There are scam buyers out there who use this method of purchasing with one address and asking it to be sent to another, often using a stolen credit card.
I see it as the seller protecting themselves as they do not know the intent behind the request.

Your mistake, but they are also at fault for telling you to cancel and rebuy. You can't cancel. Only they can.
All you can do is get it redirected to you.

I did that immediately and they kept put it on me...and yes I do realise that it was my mistake hence why I notified them immediately.

They are helping me and I have also escalated to PayPal. What's frustrating is that the supplier is ignoring my emails now.

Thank you - that's the issue the seller wouldn't cancel even though I asked them immediately after hitting the buy button and saw the incorrect address. And they didn't give me a tracking number so I couldn't redirect the parcel as I spoke to AusPost and without it they couldn't do anything.

Maybe take out an actual mail redirection for the next 2 weeks (or longer, depending on where it is coming from).
Grab a form from your nearest PO and fill out the old address details and the new address.
Tracking is irrelevant - you're purely going by address.
Bear in mind it takes around 3 working days to kick in and can be expensive.
The only other thing you can do is go to the previous property if it anywhere near you, speak to the residents and explain the situation. Hopefully they will contact you when it arrives.
