Registered Post ( with basic cover ) has been replaced with a real stinker ).

Registered Post is now Signature on Delivery which turns out to be a literal SOD.

Even though the AusPost website still contains reference to $100 basic cover

for lost items there is no longer any such cover.

To have any chance of compensation you need to pay for EXTRA cover.

This of itself 'implies' there is a basic cover and that you are paying for

'extra' beyond the basic cover ( which no longer exists ).

To sellers there is no risk because basic Click and Send will

provide Proof of Sending and protect them from INR PayPal claims.

I believe that the term 'Extra Cover' is absolutely deceptive and
it is only buyers who will be disadvanted by this new system.

The point you have raised regarding the extra tracking label being put it is definitely concerning and I agree that this should not be occurring. When you contacted Click and Send regarding this did they investigate it for you at all?

This has happened at a couple of post offices I have used. It has nothing to do with C&S ... it is the PO staff who do not know whether or not they should be entering the postcode in before proceeding, or don't know which screen they are supposed to be in when scanning the barcode ...

At my PO there are 2 staff members who know the correct way. I just wait for them, as it shouldn't be my job to train the others!

Hi cezm,

I am very disappointing to hear.

It certainly isnโ€™t your responsibility to train the staff and I would like to forward this feedback on the post officeโ€™s area manager. Could you please advise as to which post office you attend?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kim,

I think you'll find most PO staff have not had enough (or any) training with C&S lodgement procedures. Fortunately my LPO staff have all taken the time to work out what to do with our parcels.

They are no problems with the flate-rate satchels and boxes but it's a different matter when it comes to using own packaging through C&S. It doesn't help that the C&S shipping labels do not mention the words "Click and Send" yet the staff have to select "Click and Send Regular" on their screens. Unless you tell most staff members they will process the parcel as Parcel Post and end up with another tracking barcode. How hard would it have been to print Click and Send on the labels instead of Parcel Post?

There is still some problem with C&S <500g Own Packaging labels with Signature on Delivery. The barcodes are not recognised when scanned.

Kim in May 2013 the same AP staff actions were recorded in the linked thread. post 52 or so

So when will AP be training their staff given that the same anomalies are still occurring?

In my experience, there are very few AP staff at Post Offices who know or can work out how to process C&S parcels that are paid for at the PO - and if anecdotal evidence posted on the forum is anything to go by, those that do worked out how to by trial and error.

The fact that many members across Australia relate similar experiences would suggest it is not a problem with any individual office/outlet, but with a lack of information/training by AP in general.

A far better fix would be to make that information/training available to all PO staff.

EDIT: oops - don't mind me, just didn't read the second page of posts before replying. Smiley LOL

Sorry good people but I only 'just' received an email about a response to this thread.

As far as the processing of non ebay satchel postings goes, I have given up.

2 calls to C & S support and 2 indications that the local PO owner would be 'educated'

and they STILL insist I can't have SOD using the C & S barcode.

It's such a shame that all PO's aren't linked to the AusPost mainframe.

The scan would tell the whole story.

Oh well.

Hey fixnwear,

Iโ€™m really saddened to hear that you havenโ€™t been getting the result you are after regarding your Click and Send experience. You probably feel pretty fed up at this stage.

Would you like to send the enquiry to our Online Team to have it reassessed?

If so please send here: https://contactus.auspost.com.au/app/enquiry/ClickSend

Please let us know if there is anything else we may be able to help you with.

Thank you Rory.

I have used the link you provided.

Perhaps they can educate the owner of my local LPO.

The other day he still insisted it wasn't possible to

have SOD using the barcode on a non ebay posting label.

I had to travel 15 extra kms to a PO that COULD.

Rory.

All PO's using scanning equipment presumably use the same software.

Is it possible for you to spell out the steps required to process SOD +

Extra cover ?

I can then print it out and provide the owner of my local LPO with

a how-to guide.

BTW PJ.

There is no longer ANY standard cover for SOD parcels.

The basic $100 no longer exists.

Extra cover is a misnomer and should now read Insurance.
