First of all, apologising in advance for asking a question that must have been asked so many times before. The more i read the more confused i am, so i'm hoping you'll have the patience to guide me through the returns process.
On 29th August i used B.I.N. to buy S.B. sheets , standard delivery, and immediately paid for through Paypal.
They were posted to me from Victoria on the 2nd September, and i received them in Perth on the 11th September.
The sheets i received are Q.S. and while, according to the price tag on the back, are 3 times the price of the ones i paid for, i cannot use them.
On 11th September i contacted the buyer through Ebay to say the size is incorrect and i'd like the correct bedsheets.
On 13th September i received a polite apology with the following request:
'' You can send it back and we can refund you the postage.
Once received we will send you the correct size.
Let me know when you send back the item and the postage cost. ''
Is the above the correct procedure and i'm guessing i will have to return them with tracking?
How can i prove i actually sent the unopened sheets in the package?
Should i be going through Paypal?
Given the time everything has taken, now to return them and then to wait on receiving correct bedsheets, will i still be able to eventually leave F.B. for the seller?
Again sorry for these questions, my first time doing this, and i really want to get it right. Thanks ๐

Your seller is being very reasonable so I would just send the sheets back, with tracking, but without going through ebay or paypal.
There is no need to give the seller an automatic defect when he is doing the right thing.
You have 60 days to leave feedback so plenty of time to receive the correct sheets and leave feedback, but that is not the most important consideration....getting the correct item is more important than leaving feedback about it. It would probably take even longer to return them using the ebay/paypal option.

The seller sent you the incorrect item request them to email you a Postage label which you can print out.
Repack items stick postage label on package and lodge it over the counter at your local PO.
Seller pays for return postage and tracking that way.

it's the sellers mess up they are to pay for return postage not you. They are to print a postage label which you attach to the item and return.
Ask the seller for the postage label

The seller has already asked the OP to let them know the postage cost when they send the items back.

Thanks very much for all your fast responses. As returning it in the way the seller has asked for hasn't raised any red flags for anyone here, i'll get sent off tomorrow.
Really appreciated your patience ๐

Well it has raised a red flag for me, let us know if you get the return postage back. It easy for a seller to say they will reimburse you.

Red flag for me also.
As someone who has been caught by a seller saying "send it back and I'll reimburse you for the postage" and then refused, it took a lot of emails and also eBay stepping in before it was refunded, it's something I won't do again.
EBay provides the postage label which the seller will pay for, take advantage of it.
Maybe the seller is genuine but why should the purchaser be out of pocket, waiting for a reimbursement, when it's the seller's stuff-up?

Red flag here too, ask the seller to either send you a prepaid, fullytracked satchel made out to their address or to create a return label through ebay or click & send and email it for you to print out.
If it were me and the seller was as unhelpful in their response I would just have kept the larger ones and sold them to get mu money back.

listen to the posters that make sence , do not return unless the seller pays or sends you a label.
