Seller has changed payment option

Hi. I agreed to purchase an item and pay cash on delivery. The seller; after I requested pick up address, has now said that due to fraudelant dealings she has been advised by ebay to only accept paypal and will only give out her address once payment is received. Anyway my question is this, I can no longer see a payment option for paypal. Is that because the original agreement was for C.O.D? If so, is there a way to make this option available again?

I think the eBay rep had it confused and meant PayPal is best for an item being posted out because of the scammers.

Cash is still best for both buyer n seller on pick up items.

If they want PayPal, the seller will need unmark as paid and send an invoice which should reset checkout.

seems more likely that the seller discover COD is NOT cash on pick up but a very expensive delivery method whereby a third party company deliver to goods to you

Having said that, while it would be unusal for ebay to say it, they are often 'risky' dealings with scammers and pickup items (not saying you are a scammer, but it does happen, especially with pickup) and it is also true that ebay only allow contact details to be exchanged once the purchase is actually made (ebay greed, as they believe everyone is advertising on ebay but trying to rip them off by avoiding fees by doing the actual sale off ebay)

You may need to ask the seller if they can re-send you invoice, that might work

I presume you mean "pay on pickup" where you go to the seller's address, pay and pick up the item.  Not C.O.D (cash on delivery) which means it is posted to you by the seller, then you have to pay at the Post Office before you can collect the parcel. ( This is very expensive)   Because you are using both terms here, it is a bit confusing.

I'm more inclined to think the seller has been advised contact details can't be exchanged unless the item has been purchased, which on eBay doesn't necessarily mean paid for.
