Seller ships wrong item and wants me to pay the return cost of the item!!!!!

I recedntly purchased an item and the seller has in error shipped the wrong item. They have acknowledged there error. They now want me to return the item at my cost.  The best part is they will then cancel the transaction of my purchased item and refund the funds. I PAY FOR the return of the item - These have hearted sellers have no idea. No refund until I send the error item back., I have no problem with that but expect to be paid the shipping return cost before I return the item.

If you open a dispute to get your refund you will be told by paypal to return the item by trackable post at your expense.

Is it fair?   Not really, but that i the way it works.  A good seller would pay the return postage if it was their fault but they are not obliged to do so.

I am an experienced seller and buyer and I will fight this one as far as I can go. I do not like be held to ransome by the seller. I should not be out of pocket for their mistake

I would be asking them to post you an addressed pre-paid satchel for the return of the item, or opening an item not as described case.

If the OP opens a Not As Described dispute they will be told by paypal to return at their own expense.  If they refuse then there will be no refund.  It appears that the seller has no intention of paying for the return.

I wish - but shipped from US through our favourite firm (Pittney and XXXXXX) so tracking number supplied.

You can try calling PayPal and explaining the situation, occasionally, if the cost of returning an item is excessive or very disproportionate to the value of the refund, they will provide some alternative options - I do not know exactly what criteria they base it on, or how likely it is that they will provide other options, but they have done so in the past.

I agree (I didn't realise before that it was an overseas purchase), I have always found that if you actually speak to someone - not email or live chat - even asking for a supervisor if at first you don't get satifaction from a peon, most are reasonable in such an obvious case. Worth a try I feel.....
