You should never pay more than the listing stated UNLESS you ask a additional shipping method such as express or insured. This seller will think they can get away this this practice and keep doing it. Make sure you mark the stars appropriately.

was it from a USA seller, who used Global Shipping Program ?? GSP is always more expensive than what is on the auction page

You left the seller a negative 3 days ago....why complain about it now?
Personally I would have been happy to pay an extra charge for a nearly $300 item from China....free shipping does not cut it with me in these circumstances.

Yeah this is why I won't use eBay anymore. Now, if you get ripped off nothing is done, which is what happened to me recently. Also expect this post to be deleted, eBay censor anything negative said about them. Talk about non accountability and shifty business.
My father in law is having similiar issues bought locally but company is actually in China item not working, won't refund unless HE pays postage to China which is about $100.

May I ask what action you expected eBay to take against the seller?

ummm, these were the terms and conditions that you and our father agreed to upon joining eBay and PayPal.
eBay are not in control of the contract that you enter into with a trader. It is up to you to have your contract enforced, and eBay make no claims to be law enforcers. as an outside party to the contract, eBay cannot take action on your behalf. That's the LAW.
eBay or PayPal cannot help it if you either don't read or understand the terms of the contract that you voluntarily signed with them. Because you are not familiar with what those T&C are, you are actually publishing false and potentially defamatory material.
Now, if I were you, I'd be glad that all that eBay did was remove the offensive material. They could do a lot more.
re your FIL
he has 2 contracts.
1) with eBay
2) with the seller/
eBay cannot interfere with the contract that has been formed with the seller, just as the seller cannot interfere with the contract that you have with eBay.
They are two different and completely separate issues.

rob, have you already received the camera and does it work the way it should?
If not then you probably should not have left the feedback already, now if the camera is faulty/fake you can only leave follow-up feedback for the seller.
Hopefully you paid by Paypal so that you have buyer protection up to 45 days after the sale.
