Seller wants more money after sale...

Could someone please answer this. I have just purchaced and paid for an item via paypal. However the seller is now requesting an additional four dollars for compulsery tracking. Apparently in the sellers description somewhere ther was request to pay extra four dollars on top of price quoated. I understand it's my error as well. My concern is now seller is requesting i pay the extra four dollars via paypal addressed to sellers email adress which has me worried because it seems to be a transaction outside of ebay and against policy. The four dollars is not the issue the issue is seller wont send untill receives the four dollars.Down below is the request message.

Hi. The $4 can't be paid at the post office as I have to pay prior to sending. I have tried on Ebay to send through an invoice with adjusted postage but it won't allow me as payment has been made. I've logged into Paypal and it seems you can make a payment to an email address so if you can log in and pay the additional $4 and when it arrives I will be able to post your jacket ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi. Thank you for the fast payment. Listing stated Paypal payments will need to pay an additional $4 as I have to provide a tracking number as proof. If you can provide a physical address that will require you to sign upon delivery otherwise I will need to send jacket via Australia Post and you will need to pay the additional $4 fee.

Please help me is this my fault or theres

It truly is their own fault.  All of the posters above are correct.

Whilst you really should have read all the listing details for your own protection, the listing is overall inconsistent with its terms, eBay rules and Australian Consumer Law support that you are not expected as a buyer to pay costs in addition to the advertised price and post service. .

IMO the item is unlikely to be a authentic item in anycase, though you may be aware of that.

I think so you have peace of mind, you should ring eBay and confirm with them all of the matters that have been outlined in this discussion thread, so you can respond to the seller and confirm that you have discussed their request directly with eBay.

Further to catspjs post, I just wanted to address this specifically.

Any standard package sent via Australia Post receives a tracking number, but not all packages will give a seller documentation showing the name and address the package was sent to. The seller would only be required to provide PayPal with proof of postage (tracking number etc) if you raised an Item Not Received dispute, or initiated a credit card chargeback, in which case the number will help protect the seller from what can be PayPal related issues (in that these processes are facilitated via PayPal, but impossible when the buyer pays with a method like bank deposit).

So, in short, the package will almost certainly have a tracking number at no extra cost, but there is no default requirement for a seller to provide one to PayPal, anyway.
