To send item back to a seller, how should I post it?

I recently bought a movie from a seller. It had the wrong disc inside the case. The seller has offered to refund my payment, provided that I post it back.

Obviously, the seller has to reimburse me the cost of sending the item back. Question is, do I need to post it by registered mail and/or with signature on delivery?

Also, I have not yet opened an 'Item Significantly Not As Described' case. It seemed more polite to just message the seller, however, is that a necessity to protect myself as a buyer?

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It is the seller's mistake so no question that they should pa for the return, If you open an ebay dispute rather than a Paypal one then ebay should force the seller to pay the return postage, most decent sellers have always done that even though it was not compulsory.

I would just politely ask them to either credit your Paypal account with the cost of return, registered post or email you a pre paid envelope and you will be happy to return it.

If they refuse then I would definitely open an ebay dispute and they would deserve any defect or neg feedback they received.

It is sellers like yours that make it harder for the rest of us to sell.

umm if you read above I said get the seller to confirm they will pay for postage This has not yet happened, then if they are not going to pay for return postage open a dispute. please read.

it's the sellers stuff up they should pay for postage not the buyer.
