As the final seconds of the auction drew to a close an advertisement for Tom Waterhouse (and his $250 offer) was flashing in the bottom right hand corner. This was all happening because the item page was displayed in the background, behind the bidding window. I had gotten used to there just being a static list of the bidders being displayed in the background and having complete focus on the auction, no distractions. As the end approaches I might have change the bid, or even not continue to bid. I don't need to be reminded what I'm bidding on (with an ad' slipped in). It could help someone realize they were bidding on the wrong thing? Bidding and betting this time, but It could be anyones' advertisement in the future.
