Trying to buy a trailer, outbid at the price of a new one..

Im new to eBay, i thought it would be a good place to buy a 2nd hand 7*4 or 7*5 box trailer in Sydney (max budget $500). What im finding is that people are outbiding me as much or close too the value of a new trailer almost every time, for trailers that are sometimes 5-10 years old at least, some with only a few months rego.

Now i can buy a new trailer from between 700-850 with 12 months rego without a problem from several dealers. I would like to pick one up for $400 if i could in reasonable condition, doesn't seem possible.

Am i missing something here? are people just artificially bumping up prices or are they all mad?

Holiday period tends to be a time for these types of items to be sought after.

That one does seem a tad dear, and bids don't look suspicious. ?:|

I have a 6 x 4 trailer (kinda boxed) it has a cage and double gate/doors at the back but no top. Great condition and only paid $300 for it last year. All RWC etc, so wait till after Christmas maybe. Lotsa people may be looking to buy right now if they are gong camping etc, and prices will be inflated.

Quotes i got this week

Sydney city trailers for a 7*4 with 12 months rego for $850.

Mario trailer 6x4 $600 or 7x4 $650 registered.

Holiday Trailers 7*4 $770 + onroad costs of $140.00

Some people buying trailer on eBay obviously have done little research.
