Warning on Kincrome Tool Scammers.
I was the winning bidder out of 48 bids on 21st August 2014 for a 398 Piece Kincrome tool kit. Item location Perth. Payment was listed after description as below.
Paypal only within 3 days of auction end
Delivery 25 Days 18-september
New Sealed
Direct Supply No collection
After winning the bid i contacted ebay and PayPal who both assured me that i was protected, providing i use PayPal and follow all their procedures. I emailed the seller who promptly emailed me back this.
"Hi all correct , all details are as before the auction and when it ended, it was clearly listed as supplier direct, we buy up bankrupt orders at % discount hence the waiting time, all items are direct with the supplier as listed. We only accept PayPal for that very reason you have 60 days protection as not as described plus ebay guarantee in the event it doesn’t arrive or arrives damaged, PayPal payment must be received within 2 days so we can book it in otherwise we have to reclaim the fees due to the amount of people bidding not reading the listing and failing to pay"
I called ebay and PayPal again and passed on this message just to be sure and again was assured i was proteced as long as i use PayPal. This is the very reason i use PayPal for all delivery items. The item did not arrive and all my messages to the seller after that remained unanswered.
This weekend i spotted a virtually identical add advertising a Kincrome Giant Tool Workshop Kit Set Box 1087 Piece K1818 Model New. The bidding was just finishing today 12th October 2014 and 41 bids in total. I immediately contacted ebay and PayPal as this was virtually identical with this underneath the add as mine was.
Supplier Direct New
Full Warranty
Delivery 25 Days after payment only
Paypal only within 2 days of auction end
no collection direct supply
I called ebay and have asked them to contact the buyer and reported the member and the current fraudulent activity that is going on. Hopefully the winning bidder has been warned in time. I'm not sure if this is the best place to warn fellow ebay members of scams that are currently happening on ebay so feel free to copy and paste this if there is a better place to put this warning out or if you could let me know. I don't want anyone else to get burnt.

Given you paid with Paypal, you obviously received a full refund after you opened a dispute and escalated to a claim so you haven't been burnt. As for warning others, very few members even know these boards exist.

There are two hijacked accounts with three listings between them.
With any of these just start an item not received claim with PP to get the funds back.

I havn't been refunded yet but PayPal have assured me i'm covered. i'll know by October the 24th so not long. It was frustrating seeing the same set happening again and not being able to warn the bidders. I reported it straight away and hopefully Ebay contacted the buyer and prevented them. It's not until you have concerns that you start looking for these boards or a place to warn fellow members.

Have done so with PayPal so should be fine. I didn't see the third listing but hopefully Ebay have pulled that listing off or stopped any further transactions. All the best.

OP, be very wary of future emails you receive purporting to be from eBay or Paypal, if you get one do not under any circumstances follow a link in the email requiring you to log in and use your password. Always log in via the normal/home page you use to log in through, never ever log in via a link in an email... I can't stress this enough.
These type of scams are usually not designed to take your money, as Paypal have safeguards against accounts with such unusual selling activity (ie. an abnormally high value sale from a previously small time account) whereby Paypal will require the seller provide certain documentary evidence & financials to verify that they are who they claim to be & that satisfy paypal that they will be able to recover the funds if needs be, and/or Paypal will withold the funds until hearing from the buyer that 'all's good', or the 45 day period to claim has expired without a claim being made, whichever occurs first.
Usually these scams are designed to gather your personal details (that sellers are provided as part of the transaction; ie your ebay ID, your name, address, email &/or paypal email/ID). They then use this imformation to send you a convincing looking email from eBay/Paypal designed to trick you into logging in to your account via following a link they provide, but of course instead of logging in you would be giving them your password/s, which they wil then use to hack your account/s.
Hope this is useful, good luck.
