I won an unpaid item claim and understood the buyer would get a strike on their page but I can't see one. Surely prospective sellers need to be able to see this somewhere?

no sorry, the strike is not visible
but what happens is that most sellers have set their default settings so that buyers with 1 or 2 or whatever strikes cannot bid or buy their items.
so you have done the right thing by following the process

Hi brighton,
If you haven't set blocks on your account.
Hover over the account tab and select site prefs then buyer requirements. Show n edit to the right.
Set blocks you want and save.
There is also a blocked bidders list at the bottom that you can add any member to and tick the box if you want them blocked from communicating with you as well.
Blocks mean you don't need to look for strikes, they are automatically blocked from bidding or buying.
You may know all this but now you REALLY know it. Lol

Set your preferences - you won't see the 'strikes' due to 'privacy policies' but read & set up your 'Site Preferences' for those you allow to buy. Use the 'Block Bidder or Buyer' for any you don't want to 'see' ever again.
