Why does EBay not take down fake products?

EBay is full of scam products that have been known about for YEARS but nothing is being done to remove these products from the site.

One example is 2TB USB drives. This has been a problem since at least 2017 and there are dozens if now hundreds of these garbage products being adversised.

Some even come with a nice dose of malware !

EBay needs to do something to remove products like this and to ban the sellers trying to con people.

You should call Ebay and tell them about it, lol. Just use the 'contact us' link

Very difficult to prove unless you have the product in hand.

It's always been buyer beware and do due diligence.

That also means, don't keep trying to get a product for a cheaper price.

Why do they get away with it. Few reasons

1. Buyers continue to chase items practically free, hence enabling them

2. Above said buyers (not all obviously) ignore red flags ie feedback

  • 3. The site makes money from the transactions and although they actively remove fake designer products such as handbags etc they have to to avoid lawsuits, I doubt they'd get sued over a thumbdrive

But the key point is so long as buyers continue to chase/buy cheap stuff from Chinese sellers and are too tight fisted to outlay a few extra dollars to support Australian sellers 😍😀👌👍 nothing will change

Disclaimer: Not all stuff from China is rubbish, plenty of good products, look around your house, but you get what you pay for. It is frustrating as a seller in Australia with our postage prices, which ironically I believe are inflated to cover the cost of delivering the glut of freely posted stuff coming from China, but little we can do about it
