Wrong funding source on Paypal

Thius is a bit annoying. I just bought a small item on eBay, tried to change the funding source from Bank Account to Credit Card, logged into Paypal, and then a screen came up saying the payment was completed!

There was no opportunity to change the funding source at all, so now I'll be up for an overdrawn fee from the bank. Has this happened to anyone else? Am I imagining it?

I always though the option came up before you committed the payment. Did you get that option? Is the credit card attached to your Paypal account? If not, that might be why it didn't work.

I always use existing funds, so I can't really help any further.

Yes, I got caught once, and once only.

I wanted to change my funding source from the bank to the Visa debit card on the same account.   I was not too upset about it as it was a low value purchase but I would have been furious if it had happened to an expensive item where I wanted the Visa chargeback protection option.

It seems to have something to do with the shortcut login to paypal....I refuse to use it and make very sure that I log in to change my funding source before hitting the Pay Now button.

Wrong funding source on Paypal

i am replying to this thread because i have had similar problems & came onto the boards to look for any tips on it. When i clicked the pay now button, it did eventually let me pay with credit card after trying it over a few times. There was a link towards bottom of the page to do that. But it made me fill in my credit card details over again when they are already on file with my paypal account.

I had also tried signing into my paypal account separately before paying for the item through ebay, but it made no difference. It seems theres some sort of bug in the system because on the email receipt it said i could sign up for an account to make checkout quicker, so it thought i was paying as a paypal guest.

When my paypal balance is at 0 items automatically get charged to the credit card. This time i have a balance but it was a low feedback seller so i wanted to be safe & pay with credit card. There used to be a link in the paypal account to set all this stuff up but its all been changed around since last time i looked & i can't find it, any ideas?
