I can't be the only one who feels like the global shipping program is wildly expensive. Shipping from the states has always been expensive but it's starting to get ridiculous. If the seller doesn't enter the exact size abd weight small overages result in massive increases in cost. More than one I've ordered identical small items, done costing $25 more than the other for no explicable reason.
A small camera lens adapter in a container the size of 4 matchboxes and around 100grams cost me $45usd. It was shipped by the GSP through Fedex and the cheek of these people...after about a week last Monday morning the tracking said it was at adelaide airport but the estimated delivery date was Friday 6pm. Assuming the Friday delivery was a glitch I rang up to ask if I cloud pick it up since I would be nearby anyway. They were helpful and said I could. As I was leaving I asked about the Friday delivery, the guy behind the desk said that yes even though it was here and ready they were going to hold it for 4 days before delivery because it was a budget service!
In addition to all that when you search for things, particularly from the US you get the current item price plus the shipping price underneath only to find when you go into the items actual page that the estimated price is actually much much more.
I wish they would kill this GSP or at least make it easier for US sellers to also offer regular first class and priority shipping because it's starting to get crazy.
I'd be curious to hear all of your stories, I'm surei can't be the only one.

I was wondering when you'd turn up with a GSP thread.
How many times have you been told that First Class International is only for parcels under 4lb? An Xbox controller would be way more than that. Therefore, for totalchaos84.rh-2, that comment is useless. Once you hit the next rate, more often than not, GSP is cheaper (not always, but more often than not). You've been told that too, but all you hear is lalalalalala GSP lalalalalala GST lalalalala.
Good morning *tippy*toes*, you were up late. But *tippy*toes*, the next time totalchaos84.rh-2 buys something from overseas, it won't be an Xbox because they already have one! So they can get games for the gizmo which will be under 4lbs and they will go nicely through USPS First Class Int. They'll also be able to get multiple items from different listings by the same seller who can then combine and ship together. Besides games they can get VHS tapes, CD's, books, vinyl records, clocks, figurines, dolls, clothing items. Many things!
So the comment is not useless! Again, the likelihood of totalchaos84.rh-2 buying another Xbox giizmo is unlikely at this stage. My mention of alternative to GSP which disgusted this person was about buying in general.

As for the actual postage amount, it would have been there in full view of the buyer, including import taxes. Pointless buying and then whinging about the postage cost, when it slams you in the face. Listings are very obvious when a seller uses GSP. Not only in the listings, but in the search results.
No sympathy for totalchaos84.rh-2. It was all there on their screen prior to purchase.
Well, this member got caught out as have many others. We hear it all the time! Did you read one of my posts some time back about a seasoned US seller who had no idea what GSP was? He'd never heard of it. About half of his items I was looking at were going via USPS and the other half by GSP. They were a mix of magazines and DVDs. One DVD was via GSP, other was USPS.
Anyway, I feel for the poster, totalchaos84.rh-2 because it was a horrible surprise.

I understand this is important to you. So important that it took you four months to formulate replies.

No davewil1964, I had no idea of totalchaos84.rh-2's post until the thread was bumnped up by chris144. I thought you'd know that being the clever fellow you are.
Edited to correct the spelling of totalchaos84.rh-2's name.

4chan has a bee in his bonnet about the GSP. And GST. And radiation.
Nothwithstanding that, he tends to flood GSP threads, then if anybody bumps them, floods again. Whether or not he has posted after the bumped post he replies to, he claims to not have known the thread existed before it was bumped.

Really?
Please point out where I have done any of those things.

Dear davewil1964,
it is me 4channel (not 4chan) here. I make no secret of disliking GSP . And I make no secret of my dislike GST on second hand goods.
I respectfully ask you to please not be incorrect here about me flooding GSP threads. I would like to say that I am not flooding these threads and nowadays I probably post no more on them than you do! What I like to do is let some of the people who are upset with GSP know that they can ask seller nicely to please re-list item. There''s nothing wrong with that.
So daveil1964, I ask you to please respect my right to be here as I do yours. If you disagree with me then that's fine. There's a constructive way to do that. I may not like the fact that you disagree but me being a man who is in mature years, I have to take it like a man should.
I saw the thread here and I replied to a poster thinking they had just posted recently. I should have realised that it was chris 144 that posted recently and not totalchaos84.rh-2 who last posted 4 months ago. But then again davewil1964, I do have a right to post on something that I want. Please understand that. And if I can offer some of my experience of finding ways to navigate around GSP that won't result in a shock like the one that totalchaos84.rh-2 w experienced , then what's wrong with that? Please just let me have my say.
Thanks
