I have noticed when bidding trying to win an item that other bidder usernames are blocked, how is this possible perhaps they are schill bids?

yours is blocked from other members too. Only you can see it. To others yours will appear as S****7(85) for example

Thank yo ufor your response, but I notice that some say this: "private listing - bidders' identities protected"
and some are like the ones you point out? How do they block it so it says as above any idea? Thanks in advance, Lindsay.

the privatelisting ones are the way the seller set up the auction, called a private listing, it just means that nothing shows in bidding and afterwards in the feedback
it is mainly used for items of a sensitive nature, sexy lingerie, underwear, items of a personal nature, and sometimes very expensive collectables such as coins, stamps, banknotes, vintage jewellery etc.

If you want to check, sign out of eBay and then go back in as a guest, find the item you bid on - click on bids and you will see all bidders and yours will be in the same (blocked) format as the rest.
