always like to do the right thing by buying australian made, made a purchase and paid top dollar for it when the item finally arrived i was really angry to see a made in india sticker on the box and on the item! this guy is an all round dodgy guy, would not send my item as he claims i never paid for it and would not acknowledge payment even after i produced a receipt, item received 2days after i informed him i had reported him to fair trade, what are the rules on this?? can you say your items are made in australia when in fact they are cheap made in india knock offs? even after all the drama i had with him the one thing that really annoyed me was that i was led to beleive my item was made in australia and helping australians,so i didnt really care about the price. Can some one tell me why ebay lets this happen??. very unaustralian.

If you claim your products originated from Australia, you need to be aware of your obligations under Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Making an incorrect claim that your products are made in Australia can lead to penalties of up to $1.1 million under the ACL, so itโs important to get it right.

It doesn't sound like you did, but if you did pay by PayPal, you would have grounds to opoen a SNAD if you want a refund.
"Why does eBay let this happen?"
How could they possibly know unless someone tells them and provides them with proof?

unfortunately i diddnt use paypal, for some reason it was paid via bank deposit and after about 6 weeks i contacted them and was told my payment was never received, faxed through my bank deposit receipt & they still claimed i had not paid, after getting nowhere with management they told me future corrospondence was to go through the owner as he was dealing with my "issue" well the owner was rude and arrogant, apparently my sale was nothing compared to the orders he processes daily so it wasnt worth his while to even try to resolve the problem and double check for me, even though he acknowledged the account name and number i used was his and he was holding my receipt in his hands, well i had had enough by that stage and ended up swearing ( told him i was unhappy coz i had waited nearly 6 effin weeks) he was making out that because i had sworn i now wouldnt be getting anything, sorry mate but swearing dont cancel my right to a refund! once fair trade had received my complaint and proof of payment my items arrived in 2days, ok so i should be happy, i got my stuff & i learned a lesson,- only use PAYPAL!! now back to my original reason for choosing that paticular item....australian made he claims.... sticker says MADE IN INDIA....would you know how and or the best way to complain to ebay about this guy? do you think im over reacting.. be honest

While i do understand you feel you have been mislead, you need to look at your buying practise first. Firstly you should never ever pay via bank deposit, you are probably lucky you even had anything sent to you. Why do sellers like that get away with it,,,,well honestly its because of buyers like you paying via bank deposit and therefore you have no come back.

For your question regarding are you overreacting about the Australian made claims vs. made in India. Short answer, no you are not overreacting. As crikey said there are rules regarding that claim.
What will you do next? Nothing? Okay, finished.
Something? What result do you want? For them simply to know so they can change their habit? If you are brave to contact them again and share your observation.
It was either an honest oversight or a deliberate lie. Either way... next, do you want a replacement with a genuinely Australian made item or a return for refund for this inaccurately described item? If they will not come to the party on this, you probably can go to Fair Trading again... as a non-expert I am unsure...
Anyway, good luck!
