item paid for then resold

Hi all,

In the month of November, I purchased an item and paid for it straight away, I live in Melbourne  and the item was in Sydney and was pick up, with this not being the only thing on my mind I forgot leading upto CHristmas and the seller contacted me in January asking for a pickup, I humbly apologised and said it was totally my fault and that I would contact a freight company to pick up. A couple of weeks later I contacted the seller and asked for pickup details, He gave them to me with no issues, and asked that the courier contacted him prior to arriving. About a week later the seller rang me and again complained about the ntime it had taken to be picked up, I assured him that I had contacted a courier and that I could not control his pickup dates, he accepted this and said he just wanted the item out. The courier contacted the seller the following week to arrange pickup and was told too late he had resold it, even though I had paid for the item the same night I won it. I thought that the successful bidder had entered into contract with the seller, the seller does not seem to acknowledge this. I have listed my issues with the E-bay dispute centre who claim that an answer would come back 24-48 hours from now, been many days now and still nothing. Am I right in this issue, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Sacko-buyers ALWAYS have positive feedback.Sellers have not been able to leave negs for buyers for almost 5 YEARS.

Re you complaining about negative responses.

YOU buy & pay in NOVEMBER last year.

YOU forget about the item because YOU have other things on your mind & it then becomes CHRISTMAS.

YOU then-WEEKS later by your own admission-TELL seller you will organise freight company.

ANOTHER week goes by before seller complains.

We are probably well into JANUARY by now I presume.

YOUR freight company fails to pickup on organised date & then shows up apparently yet ANOTHER week later.

YOU now come here asking what YOU should do because the fed up seller has obviously had enough.

How would YOU feel if YOU were the seller ??? Or don't they come into the equation because its all about YOU.

Firstly, I agree that the OP has stuffed around with the buyer a little too much.

Secondly, I applaud the OP for taking that on board and accepting that they did take far too long and that the seller's actions are understandable.

Thirdly, I agree that the way some posters have commented are unnecessarily critical and negative.   Sacko7, it is unfortunately the norm here for replies to be rather scathing and critical.  However, there are also some who can give the same opinion/advice but put touch more politely.  I much prefer the latter too!

Fourthly,  I believe in 10 day pick up limit unless buyer requests extension for a reasonable reason.

Sacko7 (nice name), it seems you understood what you did wrong. Whether unintentional or not, going a month or two without any contact to the seller is generally not a good way to start a transaction. It's good that you paid right away but because it was a pick-up item, you really needed to be on the ball and organise things on your end, which is maybe what you forgot that you needed to do.

If it was a considerable amount, I would keep trying to get the seller to refund, as there was no transaction. As said by other posters, it seems that you aren't covered by PayPal Buyer Protection, so you probably can't lodge a dispute to get any help from PayPal. You just have to hope the seller refunds most or all of your money. Good learning lesson to either stick to posted items or just get pick-ups from your own city.

I'm making no comment to the OP because I have nothing constructive or non-critical to say, but I do want to applaud the seller.

He/she must have the patience of a saint and deserves the eBayer seller of the year award!

My question would be why purchase it when it was pick-up in another state?

Should have messaged the seller to see if he would allow a courier to pick it up before you purchased it

Forgetting for over a month, Christmas or no Christmas is no excuse. i bet you were on eBay in this period so you would have known

It's okay gemboy. After spending a few days reading threads in these forums, I'm beginning to think my quote is laughable myself.
