Bought lighting but no Earth point and Electrician would not install. Paid $200 item came from China and cheap materials not as pictured. Seller stalled for weeks and promised to resolve but not refund, now can't get response or leave feedback at all.

What can I do?

Good morning, no doubt you paid by paypal so you have up to 45 days to open an item not as described/faulty case & obtain a refund if the item is significantly not as described. Hope this is of some assistance but check to see if a very experienced member comes on & gives some further advice.BTW I would rather nail my eyelids to the floor than buy ANYTHING ELECTRICAL from China!!! There would be less pain!!! You nailed it when when you mentioned "cheap materials"-JMO.

As you can't leave feedback, I assume that more than 60 days have passed since you purchased. This means that you won't be able to open a dispute with PayPal as you only have 45 days to do that.

This isn't something that eBay gets involved in, so no recourse through that avenue either.

Apparently you may be able to make some chargeback through your bank (no idea how that works, and it is apparently frought with difficulties and a few cons, but for $200 it may be worth it to you? Only you can decide that.

So what else can you do?

Chalk this up to experience and remember in future that you have 45 days in which to raise a claim with PayPal and 60 days to leave feedback. Never EVER let a seller string you along past these dates.

It was an expensive lesson, huh?

(And ALWAYS use a safe method of payment - never get conned out of doing that either!)

Did it specify in the listing that it was earthed? did it say it complied with Aus standards? If it didn't then you wouldn't have a case anyway even if you had opened a disute within the 45 day limit. You would also have had to return it to china by trackable post which would probably have been quite expensive.

If it was secifically stated that it was compliant with Aus regulations then if you funded the payment with a credit card you may be abe to get your bank to do a chargeback but don't leave it too long as some have a 90 day limit and they will require you to return it too.
