what can one do if someone sold them a faulty product? i have sent her a couple of emails and she is ignoring me.

If you paid with paypal and if it is less than 45 days since payment open a dispute for item not as described and escalate to a claim as soon as the system allows you too.
paypal will then view the problem and send you the address to return the item at your cost via trackable post to get a full refund of the amount you paid to thew seller.
If it is past the 45 days and you paid with paypal and if you funded the payment with a credit card then call your bank about doing a chargeback.
If you paid with bank dep then there is little you can do as there is no protection for buyers with that form of payment.
If it is not past 60 days since purchase and if you have not left feedback then leave feedback to reflect the transaction ie item faulty seller not responding to solve issue.
