' i've brought the ginger back in case its uncle bill'

The house where the jar came from has since been demolished … it was being prepared for demolition when the junk was put out the front … it was an old vacant rundown fibro house
.
The area originally was a cheap holiday/fishing destination, close to Sydney, and accessible by steam train, lots of shacks were built, and then when people retired, they retired up here, to their “holiday home”
.
And still do
.
Spike Milligan, (whose mother lived in the area), once called Woy Woy, the largest above ground cemetery in the world …
.
We honoured Spike by calling our newly built, ($1,000,000), bridge for the cyclists ……
.
The Spike Milligan Bridge … much to the chagrin of the councillors who wanted to name it after a politician … people power won out
.
But I digress
.
We gave it a decent burial on the weekend …
.
A nice spot up the top of Blackwall Mountain
.
Someone said a prayer, some toasted with a beer
.
Crystalised ginger ???
.
We will never know
