Calling coin people - need some advice!

My brother has a collection of Australian gold 22ct $200 coins, all in their packaging. He would like to sell them. Some advice on where to go please?

Thanks

TThanks I offered to sell for him, but we live 1200 km away - he is in Sydney. He is not at all computer literate and the whole eBay thing scares him. And no one would buy flash gold coins from a newby!

Deb what City does your brother live in/ near?

there are professional Coin Dealers in most capitals of Aust. who buy and sell $200 coins all year round.

also, Syd/Melb/Bris/Adelaide have stamp and coin fairs every year attended by dealers from all over the country

it might be a good idea to contact the mint to find their actual worth before he tries to sell them.

$200 gold coins are governed by gold prices.. Ebay, private auction houses and coin dealers is not who you should seek out.. Just a quick check through completed listings on ebay shows that $529 was the highest paid for one and $400 the lowest, take into account that you virtually pay 10% fees (including paypal) that means that you would end up with $476 for a $529 sale..

Private auction houses are a no no as well, factor in the sellers commission and you would be lucky to come out of it with $450 and i would be very surprised if you could better $450 with a coin dealer, Perth mint are paying $381.10.

Who you should be looking for is a reputable gold buyer, on todayโ€™s gold price i would pay $485.45 and doubt that you could find a better price.
