Do I need to get my collectible watches serviced?

I mean like a car. Do they need to be serviced every year, or are they just good to go until they stop?

Brands are mainly Fossil, Bradley and Ingersoll a couple of cheaper amitron ones as well.

3 of them are automatic - so no battery

3 of them are ones which need to be wound manually - I know to leave these unwound until ready to use

The rest are all battery, and as I will be wearing them, I will leave the batteries in them between uses.

Thanks in advance.....

oh, apart from keeping them stored in one of those wizz bang watch storers that I was kindly shown the other day, and conditioning the leather bands, is there anything else I need to do to care for my watches?

quartz watches no. Mechanical watches, hand wind and automatics sometimes. its not something i feel the need to do regularly, if a watch ihas been unused for quite a while.. exposed to dust or moisture etc perhaps its a good idea. if the watch loses or gains too much time (ie an automatic like an Omega i have runs fast if it isn't used for a length of time) i guess thats why they sell the rotating boxes for storing automatics. i just use it and adjust the time until it settles down. if the watch was bought in good serviced condition (second hand mechanical) and keeps time it ought not need a service for quite a long time.

Thanks very much for that Lakeland. I do want to look after them, but was a bit wary of the watch service shops as I guess they might encourage me to service them a little more often than needed.
