Have a Art Krupp Berndorf tray (stamped with the standing bear).
On the front of the tray is a crest but after days of looking, l can't match it to anything.
Is there a place to check these? l thought it might help me date this tray.

l figure its either a crane or a stork.
So far my notes show:
Crest - Argent Crane/stork holding a sword proper, point up
Supporters - Dexter Crane/stork Argent & Sinister Crane/stork argent
Helm - wings
ARGH!

Perhaps they could be flamingos - just an idea ๐

The trouble is it's all silver at the moment. The original would have been in all sorts of colours. If it's a German tray it may well be a german crest, so looking at English heraldry sites might not help. ๐
If it's a stork the german is spelled storck, so that might help searching.
Good luck with it.

l'm hoping that due to the helm facing left and having three bars on it, the owner of the coat of arms was up the ladder a wee bit. (helm facing left is peer of the realm, of high rank, etc)
Might have more chance of ID.

If you read up on the Krupp history you will find that titled gentry married into the Krupp family and adopted the Krupp name.
Also I think that becuse Krupp Metalworks made the first cranes, the crest may have been made specially to honour one of the owners or managers.
