GOLD LOCKET MARKED R9

Hi Kimp

I think it's 9ct gold. the 9 stands for 9ct gold and the R might be a makers name such as Rodd,  but theréll be more people along who'll know more about these things than me. Will be interested to know what others think

If ity were  9ct gold it would have the numbers 375 stamped on it somewhere. R9 is mostly likely just the design number.

Can you take a photo of the markings? While these frames could be 9ct gold, they were also commonly rolled gold - could it be RG rather than R9? Antique 9ct gold in Australia was commonly marked 9c or 9ct, but there are also manufacturers' marks that may have included an R with a 9 - commonly though they would also have had another small trade mark or quality mark, which is why a photo could be useful.
