Hi all, it has been so long since I have been in here, bet I missed heaps. Will be hanging around more often from now on.
Does any-one have any information on a watch brand called Lega?
Himself has a gold plated ss backed one that his brother found over 40 years ago.
I have googled, but no luck.
It is 17 jewel Incabloc.
We are just curious about it, having never heard of the brand.
Have a good day ๐

I have no idea if it is relevant but Lega was the trade name used by a Melbourne firm of manufacturing jewellers founded in 1948 and working until the 1980's. They are mostly known for 1950's sterling silver marcasite jewellery, but they also made "charms, badges and figures for sporting trophies, mostly cast in base metal and then plated with silver of gold." (Cavill, C*cks & Grace p 153). I suppose they may also have made watch cases.

Also not sure this is relevant but LIGA is an acronymn for a fabrication tech used to create high aspect/ratio microstructures.
UV-LIGA has been made commercially viable predominantly through the UV-resist SU-8 and the efforts of mimotec in Switzerland who supply the Swiss watch market with metal parts made of Nickel and Nickel-Phosphorus. Several other companies have followed (tecan, temicon and others).
If it's spelt lega, then they may have named it as a play on the above.
