Limoges Amicale Gendarmerie trinket box

Hi in France recently I picked up a round trinket box with lid, picture of goldfinch on lid, and on the base it has "Limoges Amicale Gendarmerie". Does anyone know what this means? Gendarmerie are a French police force, maybe they have a fundraising section or something similar?? Thank you

I think you've probably nailed it - it literally means something like "friendly police" - so a charity / fund-raising group of some kind. Maybe the decoration has some special significance?
