Taronga Zoo pieces attributed to Grace Seccombe

I was browsing the Powerhouse Museum database this evening, and came across a photograph of the Taronga Zoo Guide Book from 1920. It uses the same type of script on the cover as is shown on many of the Taronga Zoo animals, the ones sometimes attributed to Grace Seccombe:

I've seen this script used as justification for this attribution, as it resembles that used by Grace on some of her signed pieces.

However, it would seem that the script used on the Taronga animals is just a copy of that used in the Guide Book, and possibly displayed in other areas of the Zoo during that era.

Any thoughts?

Wyvern

PS I apologise in advance if this is old news, and pictures of the\is Guide Book have already been posted.

Morning Wyvern, there is nothing like a Grace discussion to liven up the Board, no opinion here, I don't know enough about it to comment, but, I will read everyone's remarks eagerly.

LOL Miss Linda! I couldn't seem to find the old thread, so thought I might as well start a new one.

I do have an opinion, but make no claims to being a Grace expert, and I'm always open to change 😄

I'm not parting with my Taronga Zoo piece just yet, but I'm a long way away from Sydney and the people that know stuff :-x

Were they sophisticated enough back then to 'brand' all their products with the same font? ie, 'if you make something for us you have to use this type of style for the wording'

I don't think we'll ever know.

But I've een wrong before.

Its waiting for the piece that has a name on,any name so we all know.

I have asked before "who else was around that made animals & such like this & used that style of writting"

Some believe, some dont, all with their own reasons.

There has to be a list for & against, love a good mystery.......
