Don't you just love some of the terms used on ebay to describe some items. Like "Costume" Jewellery. How about just using the real term "CHEAP" or better yet the term "Deceased Estate", as to imply it must be old. Never mind the person may have only bought it brand new a few days before they departed us.
Another good one is "Mid Century". How about just saying its second hand. And just when is/was the EAMES era?
And don't forget the good old stand-by, "Antique Style". Don't even get me started on "Reproduction"...

Some people just like to see their name in lights don't they ???

'antique style' and 'reproduction' are at least honest . the 'mid century' thing came about when EBay got rid of the '20th century collectibles' category . costume jewellery has always been costume jewellery. Eames is a keyword again overused because of the demise of the aforementioned category. they have to put the items somewhere. its only when its deliberately deceptive such as a new chinese fobwatch listed in the art deco category as 'estate find'. that annoys me when i see a 99cent item at 70 dollars because some newbie thinks it the real thing. .

vintage is a minefield for misinterpretation

Knowledge is a powerful tool and should be used as often as possible. Most people have to pay to learn to some extent. Seeing what others miss on ebay is great fun and I have paid my dues along the way. It is all part of the learning cycle ....

ebay got rid of a lot of the vintage/antique jewellery categories and now everything is lumped under vintage. In the specifics they used to have headings like "retro 1970's - 80's", "vintage dadedah" etc. which made it easier for searches. Then to add insult to injury they added n thousand overseas listings into the mix.

SHEESH - that's one thing ebay could definitely get rid of..... POLLS. They are absolutely useless and no-one takes any notice of them. Well I know I don't. :^O
