Any ideas what this box is for? It's 38cms high, 27cms wide. Anodised aluminium and has drainage holes in the bottom.
Ignore the bit of wood on top of the metal lid, that looks to have been added on later by someone as it just lifted off with no effort.
Maker is Woodmet Anodal Ware Made in England.

l were thinking along the lines of an ice chest? Big square ice bucket?
What about a small wood box for wet wood, thus the draining holes......
Stuck.
Any ideas? All l can find so far is that Woodmet make kitchen trays and serving trolleys.

I have a similar aluminium laundry basket/blanket box made by the same company but mine is more the corner style typical of the 50s era you often see in wicker ware rather than the anodised aluminium that woodmet used.
